His sprint speed and stolen base attempts are the clearest indicators of whether he is operating at full health after his ACL injury. Early 2026 data shows 3 SB already, which is an encouraging sign.

The key stat to watch is his sprint speed relative to his pre-injury baseline. Before the ACL tear, Acuna consistently clocked above 29.5 ft/s. If he returns to that level, the 40-steal ceiling is real. If he settles around 28 ft/s, he is still a 20-steal player with elite power, but the stolen base premium that made him the 1.01 pick is diminished.
